Here is some basic information on The Proving Grounds. Good luck on your quest, hero!
- The Proving Grounds (TPG) unlocks at level 14.
- The Protector bosses cannot be defeated - they will score you on how much damage you can deal to them.
- You will be able to attack two times a day. Each instance of The Proving Grounds is 5 days long and runs concurrently with the weekly Slayer or Commander event.
- If you leave your guild and join a new one before using up your two daily attacks, you will lose those attacks and will not be able to play TPG until the next day.
- What looks like the boss health bar is actually a damage meter. You gain more score each time you fill it up.
- Turn delays are blocked in TPG.
Protectors and Skills
My hero is covered and its attack is blocked, what is going on?
The Protector has cast its enemy skill and your hero has been stunned! A stunned hero will not be able to attack or use skills. The turn counter twill tell you how many turns they will be stunned for. TPG Gauntlets - a relic unique to the mode - can help cleanse the stuns, so make sure to bring them to battle!
What are the Protector boss skills and what do they do?
Protectors have several skills. Enrage makes the Protector boss grow in power every turn. Every stack will increase the boss’ damage and every few stacks it will gain a new Defender skill.
Other Protector boss skills include Dread, Engulf, Shock, Freeze, and Dread which stun a hero for the displayed number of turns. Only time and equipped Gauntlets of the correct Edge Skill/Affinity can remove this effect.
- Enrage: After an unknown number of enrage stacks, the boss will grow in strength and gain three defender skills which varies for each Protector.
- Engulf: Once attacked, your heroes will begin to become Engulfed, which will completely stun the hero for the displayed number of turns.
- Shock: Once attacked, your heroes will begin to become Shocked, which will completely stun the hero for the displayed number of turns.
- Freeze: Once attacked, your heroes will begin to become Frozen, which will completely stun the hero for the displayed number of turns.
- Dread: Once attacked, your heroes will begin to become fraught with Dread, which will completely stun the hero for the displayed number of turns.
- Root: Once attacked, your heroes will begin to become Rooted, which will completely stun the hero for the displayed number of turns.
How do I counter the Protector skill effects?
Enrage Defender skills can be countered by using heroes that directly counter the bosses' individual defender skills whilst having the matching Affinity Edge type to do maximum damage.
Enrage stacks, on the other hand, cannot be countered. The best way to handle Enrage stacks is to have a strong TPG Gauntlet. TPG Gauntlets scale in power based on Enrage, so the stronger the boss gets, the stronger you get.
The other Protector skill effects can be countered using the relevant TPG Gauntlets.
